I now have both the ultralight and the expedition version of these hammocks. I have used both hammocks for the past 3 years on monthly boy scout campouts. These are amazing hammocks and I will not sleep on the ground if I have a choice between ground and hammock. There is a short learning curve on setting them up and the innovative entry via a bottom hook and loop lined opening but the end result is well worth it. Sleeping in the hammock rivals home. I have endured thunderstorms and heavy rain without incident by using the optional over-sized rain fly. Material and workmanship are first rate. Several other adult leaders as well as scouts in our troop now use the hammock. I will backpack both models but my preference is the ultra-light version - I use the expedition model for weekend campouts and Boundary Water trips. Be advised you will need insulation in the form of an inexpensive closed cell ground pad. If you wish there are aftermarket outer quilts (several on-line vendors) or you can order an insulation kit direct from the manufacturer. To date I haven't used the hammock for winter camping. The only way I'll ever camp in a tent again is if there is no place to hang this hammock. When I tent camp I usually don't sleep very soundly and I always get up as soon as the sun rises. I actually *sleep in* when using the Hennesy Hammock. It's half the weight of my old tent, doesn't take up nearly as much room because there's no shock poles, and it sets up easier and more quickly (even without the Hennessy Snakeskins #3).

As others have noted, you absolutely do need a sleeping pad if you're camping in cooler weather - you'll lose a ton of heat through your backside if you sleep right against the hammock material.
