I just purchased this product and had it professionally installed along with a standard audio cable. I LOVE this product. I have a 2005 Acura MDX with NAV and XM Radio. It tied right into the XM system and into my NAV display. Works great, though the controls took a little getting used to (i.e. Steering wheel advances 1 song or 1 folder at a time, the tuner button moves forward or backwards 10 songs at a time, and the forward and back buttons move 1 folder forward or backward at a time). Now that I'm acomstomed to the controls, I really like it. There is a mode that you can select that will allow you to control from the IPOD directly if that's what you want. Sometimes this is easier when you're looking for something in particular. The sound quality is CD quality which is what I expected. Since it is tied in with NAV, it will pause on incoming calls on my bluetooth phone automatically. Now I am a new user, so I can't tell you about how well it holds up yet. However my experience to date has been excellent!

If you are looking for something to hook up your ipod to your Honda, then this is it. The product is a good product, and you can control your ipod from the controls on your steering wheel.
And now for the misrepresentation in the product advertising. It says that you will get the text display on your radio of the artist and song. That's true, as long as your radio has the XM button...IF YOUR RADIO DOES NOT HAVE THE XM BUTTON, YOU WILL NOT GET THE TEXT DISPLAY ON YOUR RADIO.
Installation was fairly simple - the box does not fit behind the "junk box", but it does fit well under the "this is not an ashtray" console. We drilled a hold at the back of the junk box to run the cable, that way the ipod can be out of site in the junk box with the lid closed. This also allow me to pull and push as I need the cable. The cable will also keep your ipod charged.
You do NOT loose your CD disc changer capability.
You do NOT loose your XM radio (if you have that option)
You can have access to up to 6 playlists with unlimited number of songs in the playlist.
By using "Disc 7", you will have access to the "All Songs Folder" on your ipod.
By using "Disc 8", you have direct access to your ipod (you will actually get a display on your ipod other than 'connected to aux device)
You can also connect devices using audio RCA inputs (White and red, no yellow).
You can get an adapter cable to go from RCA to Audo jacks. I would recommend the "Stereo Female to RCA Male Y-Cable" (also available on Amazon or from Cables To Go). Get the 6-inch one, and run the cable through the "This is not an ashtray" console, then you just need a normal aux. cable - I keep a retractable on in my car[Male/Male Retractable 3.5mm Stereo Cable]. This way you don't have tons of extra feet of cable, and you can plug in just about anything you want. (it keeps the clutter to a minimum).
Your other option would be to get a RCA Male to Stereo Male - just make sure you have enough cable to reach your device. (Stereo male is also known as 3.5mm)
If you have an ipod, and you also have other devices that you would like to connect, you can get an adapter cable that converts the ipod plug into an audio jack plug (like the old cassette tape adapters, or the aux. jack input on most newer head units). Look for Grom audio or search for iPod female (put that in quotes in google)....ebay has the cables too. I have not seen them sold on Amazon as yet.
I have a 2006 Accord without navigation, without XM radio button, and without dual temperature
control.
I really do like this product. It was a little bit of a pain to install, but it is worth it in the long run.
USA Spec PA15-HON2 Review by KazooIDo (Deep In The Heart Of ...)
Just installed a USA Spec PA15HON2Y on an '08 CRV-EX [standard radio, no NAV, no SAT]. Saw several different videos online regarding how to do install which helped me do mine.
Took more time to remove trim pieces than it took to hook up USA Spec PA15HON2Y device & test. Supplied harness snapped into back of radio unit without any problem. Attached switching unit to dash support arm between lower glove box & radio. Applied self-stick felt pads to unit & arm to keep vibration down. Used screw & speed nut, along with cable wire ties to attach unit. Most difficult decision was where to have iPod cable exit for use. Finally chose to go through center console in upper cubby next to power outlet. Drilled small hole in back of upper cubby hole & attached grommet to hole. Snaked iPod cable through hole into back of center trim piece, then up through the inside of the center console to switch unit location. When not needed, iPod cable is pushed back so that you can't tell there is an iPod connection. Now only have one unobtrusive cable for iPod instead of the former Aux plug & USB-type power adaptor.
Radio still maintains full CD playback capability, even using multiple CD's. When cycling through Mode, goes to FM1, FM2, AM, CD, CDC [iPod integration]. Each mode retains full radio/steering wheel control. When listening to your iPod, device will stop your iPod playing when you cycle through the other modes, then resume playing where you left off when you select CDC. Will even do this when you turn off your car & start it back up again.
Only two minor drawbacks: 1.] even with iPod sound level up to max on iPod, have to turn up car audio louder than I normally do while listening to either the radio or to CD's; 2.] as I don't have either NAV or SAT, all that the radio display shows is # list playing, # song in the list, & elapsed time. Can move forward & back to songs in the playlist though. Other than these, the device is working flawlessly.
One added bonus which I've discovered is this. Prior to attaching your iPod to the connector, manually select which playlist/album/artist you want to play. Go through all the iPod pokes to get to the desired music, then plug in the iPod. IPod will play your chosen selection until it ends, then will default to Disc #7, which is all the songs on your iPod. While stopped at a traffic light, you can unhook your iPod & select a new playlist/album/artist to listen to, then plug in to enjoy your music. Sounds complicated, but to me it's easier than reassigning all iPod music into HONDA## specific playlists, as the manual suggests you do. Even at that, my radio only permits me to play 6 playlists. Since I can't see which playlist is on, selecting the playlist I want before using the USA Spec PA15HON2Y device makes sense to me.
Can't wait to get another USA Spec PA15HON2Y device to attach to our Accord.
UPDATE, 19 June 2010:
Just installed same unit on '10 Accord-EX [no NAV, no SAT] this AM. Install went just as easily as it did with the '08 CRV. Attached switch box to center console crossmember supporting the power plug / coin collector tray. Used velcro strips & cable wire ties. Drilled iPod access cable hole through back of top cubby, which is covered by the drop down face plate. When not in use, extra cable is easily pushed back through hole & cable fits inside with cover closed. Highly recommend getting the following trim tool kit to make the install easy & neat: Actron CP5011 Panel, Trim and Molding Removal Set. Great tools to have when doing anything with interior trim pieces. Well worth its weight in gold.
Thanks to rapid response from USA-Spec tech department, you can scratch the "...added bonus..." comment above. Tech support told me that when you choose the last disc on the CDC display, the iPod controls become active. You can scroll through music, movies, podcasts, etc, then through your playlists, albums, composers, etc. with your iPod still connected. Just use regular iPod controls to start playing, then enjoy!
Not only will both units work with iPod classic & iPod touch devices, will also work with iPhone, too.
Both iPod interface kits & trim tool kit were purchased through Amazon. Interface kits were approx 55% of local retail price for same unit. Thanks, Amazon!
